Why I Should Vote

When I am ready to suffer

"Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth."

 - Abraham Lincoln

Democracy :

A political system ruled by the people, either directly or through elected representatives.

The doctrine that the numerical majority of an organised group can make decisions binding on the whole group.

A state under the direct or representative rule of its people

Democracy is based on mutual human relations. In democracy every individual has its own importance and he / she will set the future path of progress. In real sense, he enjoys all the freedom.

Republic :

A political system in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who can elect people to represent them

A form of government whose head of state is not a monarch

Independence :

Freedom from control or influence of another or others

The real independence can be achieved only when there is independence from

1) Illiteracy : Ignorance resulting from not reading and ignorance is not an exception

2) Unemployment : The state of being unemployed or not having a job

3) Poverty : The state of having little or no money and few or no material possessions

4) Discrimination : Unfair treatment of a person / group on the basis of prejudice

5) Inequality : Lack of equality

Any country that is willing to move ahead in the right track of growth and prosperity should take care of these five elements.

No country is perfect we the citizens of the country should make it perfect.

“Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.”

- John F. Kennedy

Wrong people cannot do right things

And wrong people are getting elected because right people especially the educated class are not voting. In fact they are not utilising a golden opportunity to prove once again that they are citizens of the country.

Unfortunately many people prefer to stand in line to buy tickets for a film / show but are not ready to stand in line to cast their valuable vote. They are interested more in entertainment shows / sporting events that lasts for couple of hours instead of worrying about who is going to rule them in the next term that is going affect present and future generations.

Whenever there is discussion / debate on social issues / scams they are the first to open their mouths. When you do not participate in the decision making process – you have no right to air your views.

Voting in elections is not only a right but also a responsibility of every citizen. Be proactive – shoulder the responsibility of electing an able leader and stable government that can lead the country on the growth track.

If you see elections as war between good and bad you are the warrior and your weapon is vote. And a warrior who escapes the war / returns from a war without using his weapon can never be a true citizen of the country.

People always wait for the society to change but they never realise that society is made of people like us and it will not change unless and until we change and motivate others to change.

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

- Mahatma Gandhi

This blog is dedicated to all the individuals who participated in the freedom struggle.
